Chiropractic Care

Chiropractic is the art of adjusting the joints of the body or the spine to allow the normal, innate expression of health.

The benefits of chiropractic care are many. The immediate benefits, of course, are less pain and better movement. Did you know research shows chiropractic care can also help you sleep better, think more clearly, experience healthier aging, take fewer medications and have fewer hospital visits?

Techniques and Services

We use a number of highly-effective adjusting approaches to help improve spinal biomechanics and reduce nervous system interference. The approach we use is based on our clinical judgment and years of experience.

Manual Adjusting

A chiropractic adjustment refers to applying manipulation to the vertebrae that have abnormal movement patterns or fail to function normally.

The objective of this chiropractic treatment is to reduce the subluxation, with the goals of increasing range of motion, reducing nerve irritability and improving function.

Instrument Adjusting

While most adjustments are delivered manually, an instrument may be introduced to provide a gentler, lower force adjustment when needed. Instrument adjustments move bones using the same corrective technique but with less force. Dr. Monroe uses the Pettibon Multiple Digital Toggle. You might have heard of the Activator Methods®, which uses a similar technique.

If you’ve been to a chiropractor before and prefer to be adjusted in a particular way, let us know. We want you to relax, enjoy and fully benefit from your chiropractic care.

Additional Modalities

Dr. Monroe uses a variety of therapeutic modalities to enhance your chiropractic care. Some of our most commonly used modalities include:

  • Accelerated Recovery Performance Trainer (ARP), a specialized type of exercise and electrical muscle stimulation protocols to increase range of motion and strengthen surrounding muscles
  • Ice therapy to reduce inflammation and pain
  • Intersegmental traction to relax muscles and reduce muscle spasms
  • Electrical Muscle Stimulation to reduce inflammation and increase blood flow
  • Massage therapy including deep tissue and relaxation massage
  • Rehabilitative strengthening to stabilize and improve function of injured areas
  • RockTape® kinesiology taping to reduce inflammation and pain

Patient Concerns

You may be apprehensive about being adjusted, and that’s perfectly normal. Dr. Monroe will develop a personalized treatment plan with you and explain it thoroughly to help put you at ease. He likes to say that he is like an old shoe with his patients . . . “it just fits!”

Most adjustments are very gentle and not at all painful. You might hear a cracking or popping sound, but the adjustment should not be painful. Occasionally, an adjustment might leave you with a temporary sting, but rest assured it is only temporary and won’t last long.

If you are still nervous, Dr. Monroe can start with instrument adjusting until you become accustomed to chiropractic care.

Dr. Monroe and the staff at Morris Chiropractic Clinic want to ensure you receive high quality care tailored to your specific needs.
